U.S. military intelligence analysts are still not sure if the Iranian pilots simply were unable to hit the drone due to lack of combat skill, or whether they deliberately were missing and had no intention of bringing down the drone. But as one of the officials said, “it doesn’t matter, they fired on us.”
Here come the drums of war.
As a lot of the reblogs have mentioned, this may be used as a reason to go to war, which would obviously be a huge overreaction.
So far the Pentagon’s official response has been very noncommittal but definitely leave an invasion on the table: “We have a wide range of options from diplomatic to military.” They’re also maintaining that the drone was four miles outside of Iranian airspace, which is interesting.
