Lol
They’re working just fine.
Seriously. The Volt is a plug-in hybrid that has a gas generator. It goes roughly 40 miles all electric then the motor kicks in. Even after that, the gas mileage is exceptional. The sales, which were disappointing at first, have been up lately, probably due to the gas spike.
Come on, guys. Wikipedia it or something. It just takes a second—and it makes you (and your movement) look way less dumb.
Edit: Hey Libertarians. I’m still not going to do your work for you—but if you want a more persuasive image, put this image inside of another image with the caption: “How is that PUBLIC EDUCATION working out for ya?”
Yeah, I’m going to have to side (mostly) with squashed on this one. Reasons:
- Googling before you post.
- Googling before you post.
- Googling before you post.
- Being pro-liberty doesn’t mean being anti-environment. It doesn’t mean being anti-hybrid cars or green technology or recycling or organic food or eating local or anything else typically categorized “green.” It doesn’t mean being against these things in the same way that being against, say, government schools doesn’t mean you’re anti-education. Or how not wanting the government to subsidize agribusiness doesn’t mean you have to hate food. Likewise, not wanting the government to subsidize green technologies or pass environmental legislation which isn’t liberty-friendly does not require you to mock owners of electric cars. Indeed, you might even choose to purchase one when you can afford it so as to limit your violation of others’ property rights by polluting less. Don’t get me wrong — Volts have big problems for the libertarian thanks to the absurd tax-funded subsidies which apparently go into making them ($250,000 per car. Ouch!), but that’s not the message of this image.
- On a final side note, many people are only given one option in purchasing their electricity, because the local power “company” is actually the town/city/country/whatever. In those cases, at least, isn’t this a failure of government intrusion in the marketplace — not the electric car owner?
Edit: On reviewing OP’s page, he appears to be more traditionally conservative than libertarian. Just throwing that out there.
