statehate asked: I read your answer to the question about DUI checkpoints and I wish I could reblog it. I get so frustrated hearing people (particularly conservatives) defend the use of roadblocks to check for DUI or drivers' licenses and they don't seem to understand (or simply don't care) that they are clear violations of our 4th Amendment rights.
I got into an argument with a cop at a checkpoint recently about the constitutionality of what he was doing and he started yelling at me about how he was "saving lives." Bullshit. How many drunk drivers are there at 4 in the afternoon? Then they play on people's ignorance of their rights to persuade them to consent to be searched.
Anyway I just wanted to express my appreciation for your posts. lol.
Hahaa…thanks! I don’t argue with police just because they’re all too eager for a chance to abuse their authority, but kudos for trying.
