And yes, they were chocolate chip. (To clarify, he doesn’t normally eat cookies for dinner, I don’t think, he’d just missed dinner tonight.)
In other, more tumblr-related news, I got to meet theyellowalien today, which was also cool! Less cool is how tired I am right now, so I think this is going to be another day without a real tumblr update. But, as promised, we’ll be...

Open Letter to #Politics Editors
thepoliticalnotebook:
laliberty:
I know I’ve mentioned this to some of you personally, but I’d like to openly request that all editors please “like” (or “reblog”) a post before promoting it as a featured post.
It would be convenient if tumblr had a way to show what editor promoted which post.
I can’t imagine it’d be that hard to code this:
This was featured in #Politics by nameofeditor

I may not be around much this coming week...
It’s the YAL National Convention all week, and I don’t know how much time I’ll have to tumble (to put it in perspective: It’s Saturday night, and I’m still catching up on this past week’s work to get ready for this thing).
But don’t go away! I’ll be back soon (and may not even be as busy this week as I expect — we’ll see).
P.S. did...

Are Libertarian Hypocrites? →
lofiliberty:
Do you believe in free markets? Do you believe that the state should have as little a role as possible in things like education, healthcare, and various other industries? If you are following my blog, then I’m going to assume, for all intents and purposes, that you do.
Now, have you ever driven on a freeway, used public transportation, attended a public school or college, maybe...

Obama Fumbles His Opportunity With The Arab World →
libertariancontrarian:
After initially warming to Obama, the Arab world has returned to hating the US as usual. I wonder why.
From the article:
[T]he Arab reaction toward Obama’s performance mirrors the reaction of Americans who thought that his foreign policy—and perhaps even his domestic economic policy—would be an improvement on the Bush years. Disillusioned supporters who have watched as...

Ron Paul Leads All Candidates in Military... →
During the 2008 primaries, Ron Paul led the field in donations from military personnel, apparently striking a chord with his boldly noninterventionist and peaceful foreign policy.
Now, he’s duplicating this success, according to the latest financial statements from presidential campaigns. Here are the raw numbers:
Paul — $36,739.79
Obama — $28,833.99
Cain — $6,223

I'm a new editor for the politics tag!
It looks like tumblr has done a bit of rotation of politics tag editors, and I am among the beneficiaries of the change. A couple points:
If you don’t already track the curated tag, designed to feature the best individual posts about politics on tumblr, you can do so here.
If you see posts of mine promoted, I was not the one who promoted them — I can’t, actually, promote my own...

Moody's Suggests US Eliminates Debt Ceiling →
fareastlibertarianmovement:
“Ratings agency Moody’s on Monday suggested the United States should eliminate its statutory limit on government debt to reduce uncertainty among bond holders.”
So let me get this straight. If I spent close to my credit limit and my credit agency is uncertain that I won’t be able to repay my debts, then they should erase my credit limit to ease that “uncertainty.”

I'm in the market for a new tumblr theme. ...
It should tend toward minimalism, probably with an all-white background. The header should be fairly large, the blog description right on the main page, and the main column at least as wide (but preferably wider) than the one on my current theme is (so as to work well for long text posts and questions). I also don’t want it to display my likes.
