O Holy Night
Truly He taught us to love one another; His law is love and His gospel is peace. Chains shall His break for the slave is our brother; And in His name all oppression shall cease. Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise us, Let all within us praise His holy name. This verse is my favorite part of Christmas carols.  In looking up the exact lyrics, I found that the English hymn is based on an...

brittanysaysrelax: After typing that title, I know that the tumblr social justice police will flood my ask box with accusations of racism, sexism, and every other -ism they can think of. However, I think this is an important topic for Ron Paul supporters to really think about. Ron Paul has a legitimate chance to win the republican nomination. But we have to think bigger than that, and we need to...

futuredevildog asked: Great blog! I, myself, am a Libertarian , so immediately wanted to hit "follow" but of course I didn't just to base myself on that. I like your views, which are unbiased from what I have seen so far. I've been looking for a blog like yours for quite some time, so props to you. I'll definitely refer my followers to your page when needed.

A short and incomplete summary of why our foreign...
As is now (hopefully) increasingly common knowledge, our numerous occupations in the Middle East and Africa were not sparked by those countries attacking us.  Rather, with the possible exception of the War in Afghanistan — which has lasted an outrageously long time with huge costs of both blood and treasure, our 5+ wars are unwarranted wars of aggression rendered unconstitutional by their...

This is crony capitalism.
ldsgeek: Crony capitalism - a capitalist economy in which success in business depends on close relationships between business people and government officials. I’d seen the Goldman Sachs diagram but not the rest.  This is an excellent visual illustration of the fact that we do not have a free market economy in America.

My job (Young Americans for Liberty) is co-hosting a February campus tour with three civil liberties experts, titled “The War on Terrorism, Civil Liberties, and the Constitution.” This one-of-a-kind college tour brings together Glenn Greenwald, Bruce Fein, and Jacob Hornberger to discuss the greatest threats to our constitutional republic and individual rights. The tour will be...

butterfly-effect asked: Hello, I've followed your blog for a while and I want to say that I admire your intelligence and your values. I've liked Ron Paul for a while, and this blog is partly responsible for that, but I've been seeing some talk from other places that troubles me. I wanted to ask, then, if you could tell me Mr. Paul's stance and voting record on issues of marriage equality and abortion?...

SOPA is NOT tabled until next year, as Congress... →
As it currently stands, this bill will dramatically limit internet freedom, shutting down link sharing sites like Reddit and generally wreaking havoc far and wide. “The bill is being debated with all the finesse and intelligence we’ve come to expect from Congress. So far opponents have been all but non-existent in the hearings and DNS and security issues brushed aside.”

President Obama swept into office with now infamous promises of the most transparent White House ever.  Now, as literally untold hundreds of civilians die in drone strikes in Pakistan, the NDAA is signed into law, and the White House’s petition response page is about 1/3 filled with entries titled with some variation of “Why we can’t comment,” those promises are laughable...

Is Ron Paul Wrong about Iran? →
What is more likely? Circa 2003: That Iraq has WMDs and poses a great threat to the United States? Or what Ron Paul said—that America was overreacting and we would find ourselves in a quagmire? In 2003, everyone said Ron Paul was wrong. In 2011, most Americans agree that Paul was right. What is more likely? Circa 2011: That Iran might have a WMD and poses a great threat to the United...

5 Reasons to Oppose the NDAA →
Suppose you were a humanitarian relief worker.  You spend your time at home and abroad bringing food aid to those whose lives have been devastated by disaster.  You feel like you’re devoting your life to a good cause and truly helping your fellow man. Then the U.S. government sends you to jail.  Without a charge or trial.  Forever. When the War on Terror is over, you’re told, you might have a...

Gitmo Forever? Congress’s Dangerous New Bill →
For nearly ten years now, Guantanamo Bay’s military prison has been an international symbol of United States lawlessness and a recruiting boon for al-Qaeda. If Congress gets its way the facility will stay that way for the indefinite future. Both houses of Congress have now approved versions of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a bill that would require the use of military detention...

I've been meaning to mention since last week:
People have messaged me in the past complaining that they couldn’t read the font on the main page of this tumblr.  The original theme settings did make it a little small, so I adjusted it to be bigger.  Twice.  The complaints still came in — but I couldn’t see a problem anymore and figured people just needed to zoom in and/or get glasses. Turns out the problem is...

The Libertarian "Neither" in Action
Q. Something which has always bothered me about many other libertarians is when they opt to answer “neither” to a question, such as whether or you should be drug tested to get welfare etc. I realize that the reasoning behind it is that we feel it shouldn’t necessarily exist in the first place. However, it does and probably won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. So...

How to Join the Fight against the NDAA
Q. Bonnie, what are your opinions on the NDAA bill that just passed through Congress and how should I, as an average citizen with no political connections, let the government know that I do not support the bill? Thank you so much. — Kacie, from the internet. A. Thanks for the timely — and important — question, Kacie. For those who haven’t heard about it already, the National Defense ...

Sorry about the lack of original posts today.
I’m working on a piece, but I was working on it in Word on my other computer, which somehow managed to get a really nasty virus this morning.  This is puzzling to me, as I have good virus protection and also don’t go to sketch sites. Regardless, it should be fixed and I should be able to resume writing that article soon.
