Conservatism vs. Libertarianism →
thai-madness: The Conservative: I’m a conservative. I believe in individual liberty, free markets, private property, and limited government, except for: 1. Social Security; 2. Medicare; 3. Medicaid; 4. Welfare; 5. Drug laws; 6. Public schooling; 7. Federal grants; 8. Economic regulations; 9. Minimum-wage… I have many conservative friends of whom I am very fond.  I often enjoy...

pitusim-deactivated20110303 asked: "Could you clarify what you mean by imperialism and expansionism? Do you mean military imperialism or just economic interconnection? "
Well, when I say imperialism, I'm referring to taking over a country's land and exploiting the indigenous (similar to what we did to the Native Americans but then leaving after taking enough resources and using the land up).

taylords: Doesn’t property seem like a privilege when its put into the context of eminent domain?  Fucking thieves.  Property taxes, too.  Is it really your property if failure to pay someone means they can take it from you?  I submit to you that property taxes are glorified, nationalized rent.

Where are all the political bloggers?
coeus: I don’t know, you guys have all gone missing (or is it me?). None of my crushes for the past few days have been political bloggers.  Tumblr is boring without politics. )= I was thinking the same thing!  The libertarian tag has been pretty empty recently.  I’ve been slacking off for the holidays, though, so maybe everyone else is doing the same.

Halp?
I need a new bedspread.  I don’t want to spend more than $50.  I like a lot of the sort of stuff they have at Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, and (for simpler things) Pottery Barn.  But it’s all so expensive — even at Target, which I thought would be a good budget option.  Got any ideas for something cheaper? EDIT:  I’ve tried Ikea — didn’t really find...

…from this or my other blog, where I post less often, but at greater length.  I haven’t worked the details out (this is actually more my boyfriend’s brilliant scheme, so I’m letting him continue the planning), but stay tuned for more news shortly. In other housekeeping news, I’ve got two questions here and (I think) three questions at the other blog waiting to be...
